It’s Been Too Long!

Ahh, it’s been wayyyy too long my friends! I’ve missed you guys so much :( Work’s been insane, and on top of it I’m trying to go back to school by November 1st. My target date was September 1st, but we’re going to Irvine, CA in about two weeks.

Provincetown was great, and I really didn’t know how many pictures we took until I started uploading them. So, I will post on that this weekend.

I fell off the healthy bandwagon a few weeks ago and it’s shown. It’s amazing how you can feel so great and take a little break and BAM! Just like that you feel like crap. It’s sad sure, but we’ve got to pick ourselves up and keep on moving. I’ve gotten back to my Green Monsters and avocados… I love my avocados :B I did some good shopping early in the week to get things started right.

001 - Copy (13)

  • Spinach
  • chicken breasts
  • All Whites
  • Mrs. Butter-worths (I don’t care about the calories or sugar, this is a MUST)
  • sushi (never again, it was disgusting, sushi bar from now on!)
  • deli american cheese
  • deli chopped turkey
  • Red Hill Couscous
  • Coffee-mate Belgian Chocolate creamer (first time trying this one, DELICIOUS)
  • StarKist chunk light tuna (in water)
  • Flax, Oat Bran, and Whole Wheat mini pita breads
  • Dole Mandarin oranges
  • Clif Bars (white chocolate macadamia nut, carrot cake, and cranberry apple crunch)
  • Stonyfield Organic Fat Free Milk
  • Over the Moon chocolate fat free milk

002 - Copy (10)

My local grocer, Market Basket, FINALLY started carrying OIKOS. They only have Vanilla, Strawberry, and Blueberry. But… it’s better than nothing!

004 - Copy (14)

My first time trying the Cottonelle Aloe&E toilet paper. Don’t know if I’ve stated this before, but I’m highly sensitive to toilet paper and usually stick to Cottonelle. They never do my wrong ;)

003 - Copy (15)

Maia is a huge fan of Beneful prepared meals. I tried the chicken but its too sloppy and she has a weak tummy, so I’ve stuck with Roasted Turkey Medley and Simmered Beef Entree which happen to be a little heavier. I give her about two spoons for lunch and at night she can have her hard food. We’ve finally got a routine and I haven’t noticed any poopies on the floor (fingers crossed). So far so good!!

And last but least… I finally got some Over the Moon chocolate milk for M (they were out of chocolate Silk which he wasn’t too happy about, but he loved this).

005 - Copy (10)

I was literally OVER THE MOON when I found the Stonyfield Organic Fat Free Milk. I’ve never had organic fat free milk and let me tell  you, there IS a DIFFERENCE. People say “oh there’s no difference, it’s just more expensive”. Let me tell you that’s a lie. Not only does this taste better, it' was the same price as a half gallon of the store brand milks. Now how can you not be happy about that? I got a better deal, and it’s better for you. I usually just drink milk with Puffins, but I’ve been drinking this by the glass!!

Now on to the Couscous. Do you guys have any tips on how to best cook this and what I can add to it? I just have it sitting in my cabinet and I’m scared I’m gonna cook it to mush. I really should be more confident in my cooking but I really don’t cook that much. BUT I SHOULD!

Any tips are appreciated. I need to eat this stuff!!

Love you guys. Ciao- xo!

P-Town Update

I have a boat-load of pics to upload tomorrow night when I get home!! :D So therefore, I will not have any right now. I’m such a tease. I know ;)

We made it to our inn here in Provincetown, MA for a fun-filled weekend alone here on this lovely gay-friendly “almost isle”. For those of you who don’t know anything about P-Town… it’s one of the most famous places in the US for the gays to go. I’m going to warn all of you who read this right now, don’t bother commenting on this post saying that I’m grammatically incorrect in what I say because I’m here, and I’m living in the moment and this place is nothing but perfect. So if you choose to be offended easily then please leave now because I’ll just delete your waste of time comment. Thank you :) *takes a bow*

P-Town is located at the farthest point on Cape Cod and looks something like this…

map to p-town

Good thing I was able to leave work early because as you can see, point A is where we live… good ol’ Billerica, MA just north of Boston. It was about a 2.5 hour drive. Not bad. We stopped for gas and coffee then jumped back on the road in Barnstable. I’m familiar with the Cape but have never gone this far.

M’s never been to Provincetown, and me either.  He said “oh man” when I told him where we were going. Now this is someone who is a “guys guy” and is not really the type to plan a weekend away so it’s usually my job :) lol. All I do is tell him which days to keep free in his calendar and that’s how we start the process.

He really had no idea there’d be guys walking around on the streets hand in hand, hugging, kissing, shopping together with their Chihuahuas and Pugs. Lol. This is our second day here and this morning after breakfast he says, “It’s so relaxing here, everyone just minds their own business.” THAT’S THE POINT! That is the reason why I chose this spot. If this is somewhere that homosexuals feel free and open then let me tell you, I couldn’t ask for more!!!

We were lucky enough to be here on the weekend of the Regatta. We walked down to the boat docks after we had breakfast at a Portuguese bakery and they were getting the boats ready. Also there was the Swim for Life. More details on both of these awesome events later.

The food is fabulous, the drinks are fabulous and the people are fabulous. Even though I was super exhausted by 8pm last night, we watched some tele, picked up a bottle of wine at a shop across the street and headed back. There is a restaurant downstairs called Grotta. WILD! Absolutely Wild! Well wait, Grotto is in the basement and there’s an outer entrance in front. Our inn is called Enzo and it looks like this:

enzo

Cool huh? So if you look at the little door on the bottom left where it says Enzo, that’s where the party lives. We stayed on the top left of the building in a room in the back. My only complaints are that we can hear the vibration of the kitchen fan and the party downstairs in Grotta don’t stop until 2am! :( I know, but I can’t get mad because I knew this place would be fun and “happenin”… if you will.

Due to the rain I don’t think we’ll be able to eat outside. But I’m still hoping that tonight we might.

We basically just came back to the room to relax for a few because we’re planning on staying out late tonight. We’ll see what we can get into. Haha. Ohhhh boy!

Ciao friends!

All About Steve

I’m happy to say that I didn’t end up leaving the house until late last night. I did stay home and CHILLAX. The morning was spent catching up on Google Reader and watching some Sex & the City episodes.

001

I’ve had this GE blender since back when I had my first apartment in December 2005. Wow! She’s not even that old. But still kickin. Pretty much in perfect shape.

003

I added a cup and a half of Almond Breeze (vanilla), 4 fresh strawberries, a frozen banana and a fresh banana, a hand full of organic spinach, and half a fresh orange. This was the best one I’ve ever made without the PB. It was just a refreshing drink. Perfect breaky treat :)

005

004

After gulping this baby down “literally”. I went out to fit some laptopage into my day.

009

Cell phone pic, please excuse the awesomeness of the blurry photo lol. We’re looking into a Canon. Like the one Zesty just got. Now that I see someone else has it I feel comfortable with it :)

011

Maia of course with a baby in her mouth. Walking around all scared like someone’s going to take it from her. Silly girl! It’s actually a mini beanie baby that’s a cat. Every time she puts this cat down, its sitting straight up. Straaaaaannnge.

008

I did some browsing in Amazon’s Grocery section. My office mate always tells me about the deals she finds here. She gets her British tea here.

010I took a look at the next section of my ‘Bloom’ book. It’s Well-Being. I just completed the Self Growth part. I’m so proud of myself :P Lol.

You may remember when I first bought these Sex & the City DVD’s at the 90% off book store. My favorite place to buy books, well… second to Amazon :D

012There’s Lust, Breakups, Mr. Big, and Romance. I’ve seen Mr. Big already, so Sylwia and I watched Breakups. These episodes were great. It had that episode where Berger broke up with her via a Post-It left on her door that said, “I’m sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me”. This lead her to smoke pot on a corner of a club (Miranda wore her skinny jeans there haha), and she showed the cop the Post-It and he felt bad and let her go. Classic, classic, I tell ya!!

When the guys got home from their hard day of work, we had a nice family dinner, M and I watched some HGTV… then we went to the 7:30pm showing of “All About Steve”. Hilarious movie.

all_about_steve

We all love Bradley Cooper okay… but… SANDRA KILLED THIS ROLE! She was that girls that WOULD NOT shut up. You know she’s a good person and you’re friends with her, but you continue to think “why can’t you just be normal?” It makes you realize that not everyone is the same, we’re all different… and we all deserve to be treated the same no matter what. I was dying! This is more of a DVD flick though, I must say… but it was great none the less.

Unfortunately I’ve got to go to work. I checked my email twice this weekend and both times I had 10 new emails. I can only imagine what I’ve got waiting for me this morning… Ughhhhh. But… it’s strange for me to say that I love my job. I haven’t said that in… well since never!

Ciao friends! xx

Happy Labor-less Day Friends!

Well my friends, today is one of those “get ready for back to work” days. As much as I’d love to have been at the beach hanging out, it’s not summer anymore. It’s fall. Fall is my favorite season because I can wear sweaters :) Besides bags and sunglasses, I do love me some sweaters. When I go shopping I literally need people to say to me, “okay enough sweaters!!” I’ve had my eye on this one in particular from you guessed itAnthropologie :D

anthro sweater

Pretty nice, huh? I just can’t justify spending $168 on this thing though. I didn’t see it in the store yet, which makes it harder because if the fabric’s thick, I’ll buy it. If not not gonna happen.

This was one of the places that I really wanted to go to this weekend but after a Saturday in the city with Sylwia and M’s mom, we were beat, and we could only park up to 2 hours. We went back to the car twice and the meter said that we had 15 minutes until 6pm. I was thinking “just risk it, it’ll only be 15 minutes over”. Then the smart side of my brain said “nope, that ticket would be more than 1/2 the price of this sweater, so let’s not risk it”.

We left the house around 10am and headed to the Burlington Mall to check out the sale at Macy’s with M’s Macy’s card. We use it for the deals then pay him back. Pretty good huh?! Heck yeah! Lol. We decided not to go to Anthro because we were going to go to the one in Back Bay anyways. MISTAKE! Haha.

The mall didn’t have much to offer… sooo we headed to the North End. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Boston, the North End is “Little Italy”. And when I say this, I mean to a T. The old guys sitting along the streets drinking coffee and checking out the women, shops and cafes on every corner. We even took a look at a church that was in the neighborhood. It was beautiful. It had that old church smell. Classic! It had that peaceful feeling. Where you go in and go speechless. You just look around and think. I left with a sense of calm, which I REALLY needed. I wasn’t sure about this little girls day out. Last time turned into “the guys are on the way home and they’re hungry”. Well you guys know me, and I know M. He is a man to slap a sammie together or stop by a sandwich shop, or even McDonald’s!! He just wouldn’t bother me. Well I guess his mom said “oh, we’ll run home and I’ll finish the dinner I was making”. Well this was in the middle of our little day out and we had about 5 more minutes to wait for our table at the Cheesecake Factory. It was just a crazy day. Yes I spent money, and good money, but still… I just wasn’t in the mood to play wifey or cater to anyone. We need those days to get out and do our thing. I can only run with the type of girls who are like me. I do things for M all the time, but I just can’t grasp the lazy man. Just can’t. But that’s a whole other story because M is trained (love you Lover!! :) ) haha.

After walking around in the North End we headed to the other side of Boston Harbor to Charlestown. This is where the military bases keep their boats. My father was in the Coast Guard and so it feels like home to be near the harbor. We went to Tavern on the Water.

Charlestown - great views from here across harbor towards downtown Boston

Tavern on the Water, Charlestown

tavern on the water 3

We sat on the upper back side of this deck overlooking the water. I only took pics of the food well because I forgot to bring my camera for this fun-filled day. So I stole pics from Google :) But you get the idea…haha. The food was AMAZING.

013

I started off with an Amstel Light. I have to complain about one thing. Why do they have beer in cans at nice restaurants? We were having a nice dinner. Sure at night when someone is pounding them its the cheap route. But this was not the time. It tasted like Natural Ice. Nice dinner with Natty?! Oh no. So I drank it and just got it over with. I didn’t wanna about the liquor. So, moving on from my crisis… I had a Wedge Salad with Blue Cheese dressing and grilled salmon! Fabuloso, might I add!

014

Sylwia had a Bacon Ranch Burger with Fries and a pickle. That like “less than 100lb” girl can chow. She doesn’t eat much but when she does… SHE DOES! M’s mom and I were saying “oh, we’ll have a salad then at Charley’s we’ll have a good sized meal with drinks. Haha. Sylwia clearly didn’t care! :P Somebody was hungry! Haha.

We drove to Back Bay and did a boat-load of walking. We started at the beginning of Clarendon Street and walked all the way up Newbury.

We visited:

  • French Connection
  • Zara
  • Sabon
  • some little boutique on the corner of Newbury and Clarendon (saw a nice button-down shirt, thought “hmm maybe $100 max..” it was $780!) BOUNCE!
  • some home interior shop which was AMAZING, forgot the name but it was very “Newbury” and out of my rangeeeee
  • Second Time Around (1)
  • Second Time Around (2)

second time around 1

We were literally in both Second Time’s for about an hour and I’m surprised we had time for anything else. One is located at 176 Newbury and the other 219. Rather close, but one is in a downstairs first floor location (as you can see the woman in the blue jacket entering). This one was much larger than the other which was 1/2 the size of my master suite with a little fan in the corner because it was so hot. They had a smaller collection of things but it was a good second location I guess.

For dinner, we sat outside at Charley’s. This is by far my favorite restaurant in Boston (well first after Chili Duck).

016

M’s mom saw someone order this icecream and really wanted some so we got it figuring we’d all share. Sylwia couldn’t fit anything else. She said she was still full from lunch. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. See! Haha.

015

This is my favorite Sangria… EVER! The Back Bay Sangria at Charley’s, Y’ALL! Ever come to Boston, this is the place. Do you see the size of that thing?

I’m sooooooooooooooooo over shopping lately. As you can see we did a bunch of walking but I just didn’t feel like touching another article of clothing :( BEAT!

I’ll update you on my morning later. For now, more self reflection from Bloom and some tips on going green as I promised a week ago. See, I am a bad partner! :P

Ciao friends, hope you’re enjoying your Labor-less Day!! xo

Why Me?! :(

Seriously… no pics today. I’ll post tomorrow. I’m too depressed. I’m actually having a lady drink as we speak.

Definition- Lady Drink: Mango POM juice and 1/4 of a half glass of Sobieski Polish vodka :D Yes, that smiley face is a part of the real definition!!

Thank you! Let me tell you how upset I am. It’s funny because I was 1/2 an hour away from booking a romantic getaway in the woods of NH for M and I. I started at Martha’s Vineyard, and moved to Nantucket, then the Cape, then Newport Rhode Island, then Portsmouth, NH, then way north of NH.

I was going to pick up his cousin and father after they dropped a truck off and BAM. It sounded like I backed up over a bag of trash, and it was my car. I’m so used to NOT driving it that I didn’t think to check. I was thinking of where the hell the address was of where I was going. CRRRRUUUNNNCH! My front left mirror and side over the tire is crunched in. So sad.

First thing on my mind, not that I was mad or sad but “thank God I didn’t book an $600 weekend because I’d be BROKE!” M didn’t have the best day so my first reaction when he saw the scratch on his car then my broken left front light and crashed in left front side was “he’s pissed”. Then he walked away and told me not to talk to him hahah. IS HE OUT OF HIS DAMN MIND?! No really though it’s better that way because I just continued to drink my lady drink and here I am “drogging” not really drunk but buzzed. Sooo, he said it’s okay and he’ll actually help me out. What a great guy right? Well I can’t even focus on booking this getaway and everything’s getting scooped for next weekend. STRESSFUL DAY!

Not to mention my boss is going on vacation tomorrow for 2 weeks and I’m in charge of a gazillion IT positions that need to be filled. If you’re an agency recruiter, please please do not call me for job orders, I cannot deal!!! Haha. Seriously that’s no joke. Thank God for the contractor who will be helping us for the next few weeks. LIFE SAVER!

So, I guess my stressed blog is basically to see if any of you know any good places to go on a quiet romantic getaway in New England… or where I can at least look. HELP!!!
